9 basic principles of biomimicry
By Janine M. Benyus:
- Nature runs on sunlight
- Nature uses only the energy it needs
- Nature fits form to function
- Nature recycles everything
- Nature rewards cooperation
- Nature banks on diversity
- Nature demands local expertise
- Nature curbs excesses from within
- Nature taps the power of limits
These principles may be helpful in creating aligned artifice (man-made artifacts that align with the principles of nature). Just add ‘…and so should our artifacts’ to every line and see what I mean.
